I love goal setting and goal achieving. It started as an athlete and it continues now as a human being looking to have a happy and successful life. There’s nothing quite like plucking a possibility that seems less-than-possible from the future, problem-solving for how to get there, and then getting into action… and living the outcome of the possibility become reality.
I have found myself in Thailand on my phone more than usual. Not paying full attention to the scenery around me. Not taking in the place I walked into. Asking the server “Wifi?” instead of “How are you today?” In the cause of having a smooth day or evening, I’m looking up our next step to ensure I know when it closes, if we have enough cash out for it, how is the traffic, etc. Good intentions. Bad outcome. Because it’s robbing me of living in my achievement.
I think I’ve found the solution: trust that my prior research will get us along and that if we encounter bumps in the road because I didn’t google something minutes before to enjoy the ride. We can let the bumps knock us in a different direction that, with good spirits, could be much better than anything I’d have planned.
