Creating and Allowing

The older I get, the longer the trail I’ve left behind me gets, too. I have created so much, much of it by accident, that being frustrated that “I can’t” do what I want, build what I want, have what I want is actually a ridiculous illusion. I need to start seeing the inability to create as fake news.

You and I are creating in every single second. Look and see if right now, you’re creating what you want to leave behind on this earth. A scowl of dissatisfaction or a pleasant face of enjoyment? Words of harshness or words of kind intelligence? A mood people are scared of or a mood people are inspired by?

What ends up happening when we are conscious of what we are creating moment to moment is we are freed up to allow. Allowing is where real creating happens. By giving up resistance or struggle against what is so, I can stop creating the things I don’t intend and start partnering with the flow of time and life.

One thing to note about allowing is that it’s not just letting shit happen, especially letting shit happen to you. Allowing is like setting up a dam of certain beliefs and principles and then allowing the dam to get slammed by water. The dam itself isn’t taking offense, and it’s also not so permanent that it can’t be repair, adjusted, or even torn down and moved to a completely different location. It’s hard work, usually, but it makes a difference.

I can’t control other people’s actions. I can’t control the weather. I can’t control what section of the world and society I was born into. I can set up dams that guide the flow in a direction I’m creating.
