The Right Path

It is so important to be right. Right? If I’m not on the right path, I could be on the wrong path and the wrong path leads to danger. Danger for myself, danger for others. That danger is even more threatening when what is endangered is not life on earth, but life beyond this life. The infamously unprovable life beyond life.

Being right gets really necessary when the consequences effect eternity. Nothing is permanent except for all the things we have been told are permanent by God filtered through humans. God filtered through humans. Jesus, Mohammad, Moses. All given a slightly different way to be right. A different “right path.” Present day humans must pick between all the different right paths, even those born into a belief system. At some point, a question arises and you’ve got to answer it for yourself. Do I believe this or not?

Now we are getting into the hazy, smoky, wispy space of faith. Maybe I experience it is wispy and to another, it is as solid as a room-sized concrete block. He probably feels more right than me. Solid definitely gives better footing than wispy.

What to do when I want to choose the right path and have trodden down so many paths, each with their own logic, their own solid footing? For starters, I can write in questions instead of statements and make blog posts that go nowhere. Second, and last, I can do something practical like remember I’m a good person for even asking these questions… or, you know… go make lunch.
