peace, responsibility, and practicing

Peace is not lying down and taking it. Peace is found through a warrior’s battle, if you can imagine a battle that is won with the least amount of violence. Don’t confuse this battle with real, bloody, human fights full of harm and righteousness. Peace is the result of responsibility, and responsibility is laying down one’s weapons and saying, “I did this. Let me remedy what I did.”

The responsible warrior does not fight for himself. If he did, you can call him a fighter, not a warrior. A warrior is a surrenderer of ego, a creator of new truths and she takes responsibility for the actions and reactions of all others. She fights for all others. This does not mean she puts herself last.

In being responsible, he sees his own flesh and mind, walking around in a sack called the human body. This human in community with all other humans. In understanding herself, she immediately is in the seat of the Self, i.e. the warrior. He can be both at once, so while he accepts his beautiful, human flaws, he is also perfect.

She practices; she fights. She wins and celebrates the wins by teaching anyone willing to learn the ways of responsibility. Then, they fight shoulder to shoulder, dissolving, responding, creating.. If he doesn’t find anyone to listen, he listens.

Peace is not static, floating nothingness. Peace is surrounded by dynamic movements, rich and interesting stories, and a bunch of mess. Peace is because you are awake to it. Just like you wake up every day, the practice of waking does not stop; that awakening is the practice of responsibility.
